A Hero Within

This story is about my grandpa’s struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Hope you enjoy. It was a hard piece to write!

The Buzz Kill

Grandpa was a strong man who always wore his heart on his sleeve. He worked hard every day and after 30 years of employment at General Motors, he was forced to retire. That still did not stop him, he kept doing the things he loved, repairing and tinkering with all sorts of machinery and engines of all kinds. He would spend most of his day in his garage repairing things that the neighbors would need to fix. He was always tinkering with something, always on the go and his mind was constantly thinking of ways to improve something.

When I was a kid, he and I would play in the orchard between our houses together. He and I were glued to the hips and most people will tell you that I was Grandpa’s girl. Looking back, I remember him rescuing me out of the apple trees when I would climb…

A Fighting Chance Pt. 2

The Buzz Kill

The Preacher is a friend of hers and he agreed, after several months of pleading on her part, to officiate the wedding without going through the six months of marriage counseling required by his church. Her fiance refused to take part because he found it simply crazy that anyone would want to question their love. After all, “who are they to tell us whether or not we will make it.” He said time and time again.

The Abuse Expose' with Secret Angel

We all desire love…
in this life that we live.
Freely we want love…
and freely we’ll give.
And this is especially true,
when children are involved.
But many children are rejected…
and this needs to be resolved.
For children need loving care…
not to be abandoned and abused.

The Buzz Kill

She opens the door to her closet and pulls out the dress that has been hanging there for months. She studies the gorgeous bead work and the low cut neckline, it’s the dress she has dreamt of since she was a little girl in pigtails and ribbons. This is the day every girl dreams about, the moment in life that changes everything.

Her Family has gathered outside her door, lining up to have a moment alone with the bride before the big moment. The cake is baked and decorated to perfection and the flowers have all arrived, everything is in place.

Short StoriesIn her room, she stands in front of the full length mirror, staring at a face she no longer recognizes. A tear rolls down her cheek and a huge lump in her throat, she squints her eyes to keep the tears from flowing. She tells herself to be strong…

This song takes me back to some of the darkest times in my life. The fear, the lying, the excuses that you make…and for what … just another bruise. I am so thankful that I made it out of my situation. Over the course of two short years, things progressed so fast, that had I not reached out to someone for help, today I would not be writing this post. Nearly six years later, Im still recovering but I look back and I can view things differently. I have grown so much ! There is HOPE!

Growing up … I actually repeated this song so many times on my CD that it scrambled all the words and was no longer playable. I have since then bought the CD again. This song touches my heart in many ways. It helped me through many struggles throughout many stages in my life thus far.

This song sets the tone for my early years . It never fails to remind me of the struggles I have been through.
